Changes to casual employment - casual conversion
Updated: Feb 3, 2022

As of 28 September 2021 if you run a business with 15 or more employees the rules about offers and requests for casual conversions are generally as follows:
You must offer your casual employees a casual conversion if:
You have employed the individual for 12 months
Your employee has worked regular patterns of hours for at least the last 6 months on an ongoing basis
The regular hours for the employee could continue as a permanent employee without significant changes
Detailed information can be downloaded in the Fair Work Information Statement below
Small businesses (fewer than 15 employees)
If you are a small business you do not have to offer your employees a casual conversion.
